There I was, moving some equipment around in the barn making room for the new-to-me T293. After finishing up organizing I decided to make a quick pass on the drive to scrape up some of the melting mat. On my way back to the barn I got that pit in your stomach feeling. Something bad just happened.

All of the snow had come off of the barn in one sheet...for reference the barn is about 40' by 60'. The little ones are enjoying the mountain.

It took the little 293 around 1.5 hours to dig the pile out. Notice the front fascia board is cracked from the tremendous amount of weight.

Had I been in that area 5 min earlier this could have been a bad day.

i bet that made quite a racket when it slide.
i saw the video of folks living in alaska on that show "alaska railroad"
their house had about 4' of snow and they sent somebody up to push it off,
didn't take long and down it came. the woman inside said a bookshelf fell
off the wall it shook the whole place!
glad it came down before breaking anything else!

Look at it this way, it could have been a lot worse.. you were outside when it happened, and it didn't dump on your head or your children's. All in all a good day. The fascia board can be fixed fairly easily.

Absolutely! I'll be happy to replace a board rather then children or mend broken legs...or worse.

The tractor turned a project into fun once again.

Holy moly! And I thought we had a big barn roof snow slide in little Siberia. Nothing compared to the yoop!

Say yah to da U.P., eh?

And there are reasons why I'll pass on Michigan.

Glad it all came out for the better and you got some seat time.

That stuff is pretty heavy too, I bet.
I'd consider some type of warning sign's for next year,
wouldn't want anyone to get hurt.

Need to build a "dormer" over the door so it splits the snow to each side. Glad you were not hurt.
