What a Day, met two other TBN\'rs

We all agreed to meet at one TBN'rs farm. Seems he has a fairly new TN 75 turbo job with two rear tires that were flat. Luckily for him, they were only flat on the bottom. Trouble was, they and the tractor were way out there, I mean way, way out there. Anyway, we get both once loaded rear tires off and drag them back 1800 feet or so through woods, puckerbrush, over old rock walls, you name it, just to get to the outer edge of a field. Here he comes with his 76 model 2 + 2 Yugo sedan, pulling a two sled snowmobile trailer. The trailer was twice the size and width of this old Yugo. We place, flat, both rear AG tires on this trailer which was complete with 3.75/3/3.25 tires.
The 2 + 2 (which I had to ask about) the first two means two of four doors still open and close. The second two refers to the four cylinder engine.. Seems yugo's run 1 and 3 simutaneously then 2 and 4 cylinders the same. Guess it's for more torque. Couldn't believe though, that old Yugo pulled those 900 lbs each tires right on out that field and onto the road. A few sparks here and there, snowmobile trailer tires were so flat the side of the rims were causing sparks as he motivated on down the road.
I have to admit, I never thought much of those 2 + 2 Yugo's other than they could be a spare tire for Chevy Vega's or Ford Pinto's. Proved to be a fine machine pulling all that weight. Hope to run into these guys again as it really made my day..

That's an interesting post. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I can't say as I ever expected to hear 'TN 75', 'Yugo', and 'snowmobile trailer' all worked into one story. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif That should be an easy one to search for.

How did you come to meet up with the two other TBN-ers, and where in North Central CT are you? (I am in Granby).

In reality, the guy does have a TN 75 and snowmobile like trailer. He also has one of those small foreign beach wagons. I thought a little humor about a Yugo was in order today,

For those that really want to know the truth.. the vehicle is more commonly known as URABUS ......... and the trailer was about the quality of a Yugo when you compare the task it was asked to do....
Do you think that we should put together a Northeastern CT get together????? Maybe start regional TBN chapters?????? /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Hey, you sound like a fun group of guys. Which one of you stops at the package store on your way to these tractor tire recues? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

URABUS . . . that's interesting too. That's what it says on the back of my car if I look at it sort of backwards. I've never thought about using it to haul a trailer, though it does have AWD and about 200 more horsepower than my Kubota.

That little URABUS beach wagon pulled that trailer with no problem. Had 1800 lbs with two tires, and the little tires on the trailer flattened out quick like. Pretty neat to see the rims on the trailer throwing sparks as he headed out late yesterday in the dark.

Wheeldog,
Yes, these guys are a lot of fun to be around. One, I can't tell you which one, evidently was kicked in his head by a butterfly while he was young. According to his wife, he hasn't changed much. Kind of like, "the dining room table is set, just no chairs in the room" if you know what I mean.

Re: What a Day, met two other TBN\'rs

Hey I have had 8 of those urabus's, abd I tell you, you would be AMAZED what I have done with them. Pulled a 72 4door Bonnivelle with flat tires. Wen't through mud so high it was coming through the rust holes on the door. [and those were the 2wd ones]

The old ones are a LOT like a tractor. Not much HP, but BOY could they put it to the ground.
