Anyone used hand warmers for deice/degel of diesel fuel filters?

Think these things get only about 100 F. Would think they're ideal for warming up fuel filters to deice or degel them.

Particularly for the newer underfoot prefilters that JD and Kubota have slapped into the fuel lines, these would be great.

I put them on my shopping list, but my wife reminded me that we got 3 or 4 for Christmas from our daughter.

Probably would work, after all heat is heat, but why not simply buy the appropriate additive.
Prevention is better than a cure.

The cure often won't take care of the fuel filter problem. I've taped two of them around my fuel filter when it got jelled and added the solution to the fuel in the tank. Now I keep the solution in the tank when temperatures drop.

I've put a heavy plastic bag around the fuel filter on my '79 VW diesel then poured boiling water on the filter and into the bag. Did that about '81. Temps were -40. Worked.
