Hi all,

I have a BX2230 without a loader and am looking to purchase a BX2200 that has a loader to transfer to my BX2230 (and then sell the BX2200 tractor with mower). I know the LA211 loader is compatible with my BX2230, but my question is, how difficult of a process is this? My BX2230 does not have a joystick or anything (I think the joystick on the LA211 may actually stay on the loader itself when uninstalled??).

Would it be a very simple process?

Thanks!

It would not be as simple as plug and play. You will need to have the sub frame required for a FEL. The hyd. block on the pump. The lines that run from the block to the front side near the joystick. The joystick goes with the FEL.

OK thanks. The tractor that I'd be buying would have everything I needed...so how easy/hard would it be to transfer all of these parts?

The hyd. block should be straight forward. You remove a cover plate blocking the port and install the block there. The lines are custom formed for the BX2200 frame and engine. You will not know if they fit till you try. You will need to remove the rear tire, deck, and engine cowling. You may have to drill some holes for brackets and mounts. The sub frame may be a problem if it is not already designed for the LA211. Bolt holes need to be in the right place.

This all hinges on whether or not the engineers change everything from one model to the next.

The BX2200 and BX2230 were nearly identical, with some minor improvements introduced with the 2230. One of the changes was that the FEL control joystick and valve assembly, permanently mounted to a 2200, was attached to the right FEL bracket on the 2230, so it stayed with the FEL when detaching it from the tractor. So, in addition to the hyd. valve block, you'll probably have to rig up some way of mounting the joystick assembly. As daves1708 says, if the mounting holes, etc., were carried over from the 2200 to the 2230, it might bolt right up, but if not, you'll have to improvise and adapt, as they say. Good luck with the project.

If you have access to the other tractor, take a measuring device and check out the frame hole spacings. I think the Kubotas all come from the factory with the frame prepped for loader mounts- not something most dealers could easily do. We'll want photos of this project.

On my BX2200 the control stick is part of the FEL.

Always glad to stand corrected when I don't have it right. Google searching shows photos of BX2200's set up both ways: with the FEL valve mounted to the loader arm and others on the tractor itself. I guess the change happened before the 2230 came out... didn't remember that. Got me thinking about threads I probably read 10 yrs ago when buying my 2230, and a search brought up a few that might help the OP:

There is a discussion of 3 way vs. 4 way FEL control valves, one of the other things that changed between the 2200 and 2230. I'm not enough of an expert to know if that would affect the way you plumb into the hydraulics, but thought it worth mentioning.

It may be possible my FEL was not original to my BX. I bought it used. There are three lines to my control valve and it operates all directions.
