I bought this mower 4 summers ago used and this is the fist thing I've had go wrong so I guess I'm pretty luck so far. But what I'm finding is the replacement belt that JD has in the diagram M143019 is clocked but the belt that came off is not? Should I go with what the diagram calls for or was there some kind of update to this for a plain wedge style belt?

You have a GT225?

The M143019 is a V-belt ('Wedge belt' in your description)

It has "ribbing" (Not "teeth") on the inner & outer surfaces - which have no drive function. When I asked JD's DTAC they told me it was a 'noise reduction feature'.

Your M143019 replaces the original M118684 belt. (Smooth-sided)

Yes, it's an update and standard on the X3xx & X5xx mowers now.

Awesome thanks man! I figured it had to be something auto correct got me it's a GX255 unless my dyslexia kicked in and I'm all screwed up.

Ok. GX255 or GT225 - both have the M143019.

No GT255 exists.

Best you double-check your postings in future as everything depends on numbers. ("Wrods we can deciphre.") ;)
