I have been focusing on the big items like implements and liquid ballast for my new tractor, but I'm sure there are dozens of smaller things that will be needed that I haven't considered. What items have you bought or made for your tractor that make things more convenient, comfortable, safe and effective?

Stuff like Lug wrenches for the tractor tires, tools to carry on the tractor, and tow chains/hooks are what I'm getting at.

I had to buy larger wrenches and sockets- the tools I had were fine for working on motorcycles and cars but not large enough for tractors.
Also a large oil drain pan and an oil pump that fits into a 5 gallon bucket, for changing the transmission fluid. If your tires are filled you'll want a tire gauge for that. I clean my tractor's radiator by blowing it out with (low pressure) compressed air. I already had the compressor and air gun.

I still need to fit a toolbox, chainsaw holder and a box to hold saw gas, chaps and helmet.

There's tons of threads on this stuff.

Welcome to TBN..............

Things like grab hooks welded / bolted to top of bucket.
If you have a trailer and will be transporting tractor you need either chains or ratchet straps, binders to tie down.
A good fire extinguisher mounted on the tractor.
Most tractors either have a small storage box or none at all.
Extra hairpin clips for 3 point attachments.
Maybe a small first aid kit.

Ear muffs for sound protection and eye protection. With tool box need one big enough and seals enough to keep paper towels or such in it. Tractors and implements are oily and greasy.

EZ pour fuel cans. I like the ones that let you get the spout in - then grip the release for the fuel to flow. As I get older, I'm filling fuel cans 1/2 way. Easier than managinging a full 5 gallon can.

The other useful thing I got was a hand pump filler for hydraulic oil fill ups. Got old holding 5 gallons of fluid up and pouring it into a funnel.

Don't know what size your tractor is or where the fuel tank is but on mine I put the 5-gallon can on top of the fuel tank and use one of the siphons made for filling kerosene heaters. Once it is boosted on top all you have to do is watch.

I carry a spare fuel filter in a zip-lock bag. I have a large rubber mallet and a short pry bar in the tool box. I also have a spare fan belt, extra pins, clips, wire ties, a roll of electric fence wire, a set of wrenches and three sizes of Channel-Lock pliers. I have had my tractor for nearly seven years and anytime I need a tool I try to buy an extra and put it on the tractor somewhere. On the backside of an eighty acre farm, if you need something, it will be at the house.

My toolbox includes a short handled ball peen hammer for tapping out top link and other pins which need a little encouragement to move without whaling on them. (Especially handy when condensation or working in damp cold weather causes the pin to freeze in place.) The same box includes an adjustable wrench, several lynch pins, and an extra of the aforementioned top link pin.
