I'm guessing ...

"organized" means "non-native" ... (I know plenty of disorganized non-natives /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif ... so gotta wonder what makes an "organized settlement".

"permanent" means some sucker toughed out the winter while all the natives chuckled.

"northwest territory" ... northwest of what? (if it's canada ... brrrr)

I think 'northwest' is a couple thousand miles east from what you and I mean by 'west'.

This is why southwest Florida real estate is so expensive, you guys up north get cabin fever.

Reminds me of my grandfather. He used to come to the house and start mowing, would make a few passes up the middle of the yard then go home leaving all the rest. I never could figure if he thought he was doing a favor getting the yard started or knew if he made it look bad he forced me into cutting the rest to not look ridiculous.
