I'm sure debris can cause havoc with hydraulics. When I disconnect my grapple, how should I protect the hoses and QD's from dirt??

I use a double baggie with duct tape over the ends of mine. I can't seem to keep those dust caps on

TSC sells male and female caps.
I use the caps PLUS.. I leave a can of wd-40 ont he tractor at all times.. befroe any QD gets plugged in, I hold the flip down cap open and hose out the femal side, and then i hose off the male end.. and usually wape on a clean cloth,if available. The wd won't hurt the orings. and may even help them glide in without scuffing or wearing as much. I use the little straw so i get a good stream / presure. Since a wd-40 can is so cheap.. i make sure the qd's are real clean... don't want no dirt inmy hyd system if i can help it. Soundguy |

I don't know how you're set up, but if you can get your QD's so that one is male and one is female, then you just hook the QD's into each other. This also helps with hooking things up. You won't get things hooked up backwards if one is male and one is female.
This works for the hoses. As for the remotes on the tractor, I guess you're back to dust caps. The other option would be to get a short piece of hose with a male QD end and a female end and then use that short piece of hose connected between the out and in of the QD's on your tractor. Make sure the hose is long enough that the two ends of it can be hooked together to keep them clean too. The chunk of hose with ends on it won't be cheap, but it will be cheaper than damage due to dirty hydraulics.
