Default Where to get a metric Tap

Hi,

I just bent the left tie rod on my Cub Cadet 7272 tractor. Cub wants $100 for a piece of pipe tapped inside one end so I want to make one myself. Problem is, where can I buy the tap to do the threads. I used a thread gage and the threads are 17mm x 1.5mm pitch. I'm haveing a hard time finding this tap either sold single or even in a kit. All the metric kits I see seem to only go up to 12 mm. Do the big box stores or sears or similar sell taps like this? Anyone know any stores online?

Thanx

Try amazon . com. I know, sounds wierd, but they have a flow thru from many suppliers and on some auto parts they were 5-10 buck cheaper on each item and had free shipping.

I have gotten taps and dies from e-scam-bay too.

Ditto KennyD's suggestion. That's where I would and do go first. MSC has local outlets in major metro areas, and if you are close to one, you may get the tap quicker than they could ship one in. If there is a storefront near you, call and see if they have what you need in stock first; if not, just wait for the UPS driver to show up. ENCO is a sister or subsidiary company of MSC, and their prices are usually a bit lower; but their selection is about a 10th of the MSC catalog's.
