Anybody ever get in a tight spot and have your fan rub on the shroud? I was in the woods pushing brush when it happened. Only did it for a couple of seconds. When I parked, I checked the clearance and it was fine.

Somethings flexing under load. Check all of your front end fasteners for tightness. I suspect you will find some loose bolts.

Ditto. I somehow snapped off two of the four bolts that hold the front bracket of my loader. How do you spell "screw extractor"? Thanks for the tip.

IHCrules,

Yep Done Did This with less than 8 hours on the tractor. Ruined a pair
of underware when it happened. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Do you have an exhaust pipe that runs vertical over the front of the tractor
or one that goes under the tractor?

The JD 4700's exhaust goes down under the tractor. The pipe goes into the
engine compartment and runs right next to the plastic shroud next to the fan.

I was pushing some timber slash with the FEL and a limb that had a sharp
bend in it, something like 90 degrees, got run over by my front left tire.
The other end of the stick poked up and hit the exhaust pipe. The exhaust
pipe moved just enough to push into the shroud. And the shroud hit the fan.

Nice, wonderful chain of events. Nothing was really damaged except my
underwear and the 10 years of life that I lost when I heard the aweful sound
and my heart all but jumped out of my chest. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

That stick had to be just the right size with the right angle and had to be
run over the right way for it to poke up and hit the exhaust. I think my
odds of winning the lottery would be higher.... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
