The verticle muffler on my L2250 seems to be getting louder. There are no holes in the outer shell, but the noise is louder around the lower end close to the manifold. Does anyone know if the actual muffler is enclosed in a shell? If so, is the inner section available, or do I toss and replace the whole unit?

Inside your muffler case are a series of baffles and perforated tubes. Over time these pieces will corrode and come appart; causing your tractor to get louder. What we usually recommend our customers do is just go to a local muffler shop and have a new muffler welded onto the factory bracket. It is a lot cheaper than buying a factory unit and works just as good.

Gene, measure the inlet size on the old muffler and then go to Tractor Supply Company. You should be able to get a muffler for 30 bucks or less.

Thanks for the replies...I was curious if the "guts" were replaceable.
