Kobuta Mechanics could you answer this Question, yesterday Brush-hogging in 4 Whl. drive noticed front end wasn't pulling (Rear whls. slipping) while cutting uphill on a pond bank.
No noise or reason to think there was a problem other than this. This morning blocked rear whl. took jack lifted other whl. and with Fel lifted front end off ground and the front end doesn't spin tires. had a person look under the tractor at the drive shaft it is not spinning. what could be the problem and any suggestions on how to check further? Kobuta L-3600 GST S/N 57675 Year 99 and 900 hours thanks ken

No noise with the drive shaft not turning is usually a broken shift fork. Move the shifter in and out of 4x4. If you feel the "detent" but not the "shift" chances are good that the shift fork is broke. The shift fork is made of aluminum and because of the fact that the gears are not synchronized, some, tend to stomp on the shifter to get it in, or yank pretty hard to get it out of 4x4, which will break the shift fork.

Thanks for the replay, Now will this require the opening of the tranmission and I see no inspection plate or access to the area for checking.( From the 2Whl. to 4 Whl. shift linkage to shaft into transmission) The closest Kobuta dealier is 40+ miles guess will take a trip today, need the tractor working.

Hi again drove to the Kubota Dealier, talked to their mechanics and both agreed what the problem was before finisned telling. There is a pin in each coupling that holds the drive shaft in position one had worked loose or broke and allowed the shaft to seperate from the drive sprocket.total cost $.22 plus tax. and took about 30 minutes to replace.
Thanks for your help and se'ya ken
