I have a john deere lx176 garden tractor that i bought used last summer and recently the hydrostatic transmission has been slipping when i increase speed or go up a small hill, my question is do i have to replace the whole transmission? or is there anything else that i can do

If it has a hydrostatic transmission, then there is no clutch...Have you ever serviced the fluid?

Does it have a belt that runs the hydraulic pump?? If it does, maybe the belt itself is slipping????
