G'day,

I've somehow managed to dent the front RH rim on my Mahindra 5500 4wd this weekend. :ashamed:

Have tried to pump the tyre up, but it won't hold any pressure at all.

Wondering if anyone knows, can these be fixed (ie, panel beaten), or am I up for a new rim?

Thanks

Can you post a pic or two?

Thanks for the welcome.

I haven't taken any pics yet, and may not be able to for a few days (I leave before dark, and get home after dark, so only get to "play" on the weekends!)

Will see what I can do.

Sorta depends on how bad it's dented, where the dent is and just how good you are with a hammer and dolly and assorted bending tools (think good sized crescent wrenches). During Stock Car Racing, we have managed to get some serious dents and bends in some of our rims...if not too bad, we usually get them straightened out ourselves to the point they are quite presentable.

You can always put a tube in it.

The tire would probably roll off the rim if just installing a tube.

Mace Canute had it right. You've got to straighten the rim the best you can. If that works, then add the tube as added insurance.

I do suggest you plan on replacing the wheel though...

OK, so we got to work a bit late this morning, which gave me time to take some pics just after sunrise. :)

Thanks for the advice so far, and keep it coming!

(and yes, I'm still very :ashamed:)

That looks serious. But I would try a maul with some well placed blows.

The inner bend would be my main concern.

Might be able to get some success using a press.

Thanks for the pics.

Upon seeing the pictures, I strongly suggest you replace the wheel...especially if you have a loader on your tractor.

If I I would replace,it just may cause more down time also peace of mine for safety..not unless you know of good blacksmith.
