i HAVE A 1992 CASE BACKHOE WITH EXTENDAHOE. The was a leak inside the extendahoe housing and I now have the bucket and housing removed and will remove the cylinder later today. I plan to replace the seals and both hoses. The extendahoe has four flat bushings on the end of the boom. The material looks like nylon. The bottom bushing is broken. Does anyone know what the composition of the bushing is?

Thank you.

Almost certainly UHMW (ultra high molecular weight) polyethylene. McMaster Carr has lots of varieties. I like the variety with carbon impregnated in it. I have used it for sliding pads (but never on a backhoe) on several heavy projects with success.

You can drill and saw it with wood or metal working tools.

I saw that the bushing had cracked as opposed to a pinch break. This led me to think it is possibly delrin or some other name brand of acetal resin. I have made the part. The middle joint and the end of the hoe is above the reservoir. I will remove the cylinder and have hoses made tomorrow.
