Hello,

I have Yanmar YM 1600 that I have had to around 10 years. No real issues until now. The starter is smoked and will need to be replaced. This starter has a 15 tooth starter drive. From what I am seeing on the net the cost is
$ 300 to replace for a Yanmar starter. Is there a replacement starter out there that is more cost effective? $ 300 is a lot more than what I was anticipating.

Thanks:confused:

Does the starter have any numbers on it? If it's a Bosch/Valeo/Nippondenso/Marelli/Lucas/etc. these guys can likely sell you a brand new one for less than what your local parts store wants for a re-man.

International Automotive Trading, Inc. (IAT)

They do offer a couple of different lines, so you can choose either a genuine OEM brand new part, or a cheaper aftermarket one.

In either case, the part will be new, so you get to keep your core in case you want to rob pieces from it later.
