international 300 starterave a

I have a old international 300 I think it's a 1956, I had it changed over to 12 volt two years ago, it keeps grinding the teeth off the starter drive. Do they have a 12 volt replacement starter for the old 8 volt, and where can I find one? Or do I have to take this one down get it rebuilt for 12 volt?

Dumb question, but have you checked the tooth contact pattern? Sounds like more than one drive has failed? Is the drive not fully engaging the ring gear?
These are pretty tough parts. You think the starter spins in too fast and that's damaging the teeth? Many of these old starters even 6 volt last years with 12 volts to them. Maybe the ring gear is damaged? Does the engine start promptly? What problems have you eliminated so far?
