I posted this under construction, no replies so i will try here.
I have a ford 4500 TLB that I have been fixing up for the last couple of months. I have pretty much rebuilt the front end to reduce steering slop. Now the power steering doesnt work.
I dont suspect the pump as it worked before, oil level is OK. It shares the oil resivore with the backhoe. Pins & bushings are not too tight, I can turn it by pulling on the tire while it is jacked up. I did go the cheap route when replacing the hyd. fluid & bought 303 that is on sale at TSC & it is a bit thicker oil?? And I dont know what the little linkage is on the PS cyl that controls a valve, or how to adjust it. Any help will be much appreciated.
Photos will be along later I am not good on the computer, thats what I had kid for. And sorry for the spelling, cant find spell check. Got to go to work now. Thanks again.
Today I adjusted the linkage on the cyl. with the wheels off the ground. I cant go either way without the wheels turning so I guess its set right. Also tells me the pump is working, 1st adjustment was with the tractor not running, turnned it way too far. when I started her up she was turning quick & I couldnt stop the steering wheel, had to shut it down.
