I've seen inner tubes seem to rot prematurely, has the rubber change lately or am I just getting some real junk from the tire vendors. A friend left a small brand new tube outside on a bench for less than a month and had to throw it away 'cause it was rotten. The last one I had to pull was only two years old and the stem came out and it was on a small trailer. bjr

First off, rubber inner tubes are mostly some type of plastic.
I also had problems with small imported tubless tires so I added inner tubes.
With tubes the tires leaked just as fast as without.
As a result I have some 3-4 carts that are always flat when I need to use them.
Quality is sure not what it used to be but prices always go upwards while quality goes the other way.

Theyre making inner tubes smaller now so they have to stretch more. Sometimes they get thin as a rubber. Ive had them pop when just back from the tire shop from a grain of sand in the tire.

They are making tubes with far less natural rubber, mostly synthetics. That is why all my lawnmowers, low speed trailers, wheel borrow are all filled with tire slime and not just a little, I pump them full. No more grabbing the air tank everytime I want to use one.
