Tractor
Ford 5000
Hi,
I bought a late 1960s Ford 5000 row crop tractor last spring in decent condition. I used it all last year and this spring. Suddenly it started to drip antifreeze out from the area of the bell housing. I thought maybe a frost plug. They look good. The head gasket also looks good. The tractor still runs ok except for this, so I am thinking maybe a cracked block? Anyone with ideas are sure appreciated. I use this tractor as my main tractor and sure miss it.
Thanks

The blocks that ford has built for years is very porous and they have had problems with leaks. You might have to do a split at the clutch and and pressurize the system to find it and after you do there are several things you could do depending on what you find.

I had a 6700 ford and a 188 massey leaking there that is the most likely cause if it had a cracked block it would be on the side of the block or in one of the cylinder walls
