post the number on the trans bellhousings.. there will be 2-3 rows of stamped numbers.

something don't add up here.

the 3 cyl family of similar engines should have the dipstick all on the same side..

the basildon parts shouldn't be that much different for the basic chassie..

that's what I'm thnking.

my 3000 and 4600 fall into this category.. and thats quite a year spread.. it.. 65-79 on that smae basic 3 cyl block.

The only thing that having the dipstick on the other side of the block tells me is the engine is a lot newer then the rest of the tractor. Doesn't matter where the final assembly was done, ALL '65 and up Ford engines were built in Basildon and were identical for a given timeframe.

Original generators were all Lucas regardles of origin. My B-prefix 4000 has the same generator & regulator as any C-prefix Thousand series.

would the dipstick on the other side indicate somehting like a farmtrack / indian replacement engine?

or somehting from the 30 series perhaps?
