I will plowing the other day and my lift quite working. Pulled it apart and found my return line had snapped in half above the fluid level. I welded it back together but now I cannot get the pump to prime. I have been all over the hydraulic thinking I might have missed something that might of broke but cannot find anything. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am just scratching my head on this one.

Try adding some air to the vent/filler pipe to help the fluid push into the pumps cavities. After the pump is full, it should keep the prime.

I have looked in all of my books and manuals and cannot find anything called a vent/filler pipe. I think I know what you are talking about; it is the small 1/4" or 3/8" pipe that is on the right side (sitting on tractor) that is in front of where the return line fastens to the block with a flat head bolt? (also by flow control valve) If that is right how do I push air through it without removing lift cover. If I remove cover and blow air into the end of the pipe I would have to drain fluids. Am I missing something?

Where is the fill hole to add fluid?

On top of rear axel under seat towards the back

then it might stand to reason that an air blow gun and rag wrapped around it could be used to put a few psi of air pressure into the sump from that fill hole.

have you removed the plug on the pump to bleed air out there?

from under the seat on the lil 3x5 option cover?

Thank you everyone for you're help I managed to find the problem. The main line going into the pump had come out just enough to where I could not tell but enough that it was sucking air which would not let the pump prime. Thanks again for the help
