Allis Chalmers 712 battery - odd size?

I bought an Allis Chalmers 712 tractor (12hp kohler) and need to find a replacement battery. The one in it now is an interstate workaholic, measurements approximately 5 3/16" W, 7 15/16" H, 8 11/16" L. All of the markings on the battery are worn off or missing.

Wondering if anybody was able to find an alternative replacement that fits? Perhaps from Wal-mart, Autozone or Advance Auto Parts - there's no interstate battery dealer near me.

I already tried to match my measurements to group sizes to no avail.

I would try posting your question at Unofficial Allis Home Page or take the battery to your auto parts store and have them try to match on up to it. I have had to do that on old farm tractors before. Good Luck!

A note to anybody else that comes across the same need - the 51R group size fits perfectly in the AC 712.
