Need a starter solenoid for a 1952 FORD 8N. Sits on top of starter and is 6 volt. This is for My uncle who has macular degeneratin. He hooked wires up backwards and fried the solenoid. Any help locating one would be greatly appreciated.

Rry NAPA. 8N parts are fairly easy to come by, especially electrical parts. Make sure you take the old solenoid with you so you get the correct one. I believe it has three terminals.

i'm surprised hooking up the wires backwards did ANYTHING.

it won't even energize if the bat and starter connections are reversed...

IE.. I'm not sure of a way to damage it hooking it up wrong.

double check the solenoid.

lil terminal goes toward block and gets GROUND fromt he thumb switch.. starter connection is the transfer bar, and bat connection is the wire from bat hot (-)

My feelings exactly. I don't see how a reversed solenoid would hurt anything.

actually.. it can't...

the coil simply would not energize.
