Kioti CK25
I got my ck25 stuck today, and the more I tried to get out, the deeper the water got. It ended-up with the front tires and the exhaust completely submerged. I left it running but it eventually died, and wouldn't start again. I finally was able to pull it to dry land with the help of my son.

I am no mechanic by any means. Is there anything I should do like draining the fuel and oil, checking filters, etc., or just take it to the shop? What should I expect? I'm guessing this could potentially be a major problem.

Thanks,

Jack

Take it to the shop.
Do not try to start it ! If you hydro locked it there will be Lots of damage.

Will do. I was afraid of that.

If the tractor never sucked water in and shut off to to the exhaust underwater you should not have to do anything .

You don't suck air through the exhaust and the front axle underwater should be fine. It might of shut off due to the fuel air mixture and chock itself out.

Just my thoughts.

But if you got deep enough that water could go up the exhaust and into a cylinder (with an open exhaust valve) you could get water into the cylinder and hydrolock it. Has been done before.
Hence the suggestion to get it into a shop to have them check it out before trying to crank it.

There is a number of things that could have gone wrong, the air intake is often the same height as the exhaust; if the tractor was on the hotter side when the injector pump got dunked in ice cold water I've head of them shrinking & cracking something, the electrical can be soaked and shorted out, the front axle can have some water in it (wouldn't affect things today, but eventually the water will rust things up); and other stuff.

Sounds like it is best to have a pro look it over and hope it's only wet wiring and needs new front axle fluid. But best not to assume the rest is ok and really mess it up worse than it is....

I'd be concerned. Glad you are ok, that no one got hurt?

Just feelings hurt, ha. I'm bad about taking it where it shouldn't go. I think I was a dozer operator in a past life.

Thanks to all for the help.

When you say "wouldn't start again" can I assume you've tried to turn it over after it stalled? If so then I wouldn't worry about water in the cylinders. Does your tractor have it's exhaust facing down under the engine? For water to get into your air filter you would probably need to get the tractor to the point where the floor pan was also under water as well as plenty of the electronics.

I would drain and change the oil in the front axle. It should be sealed but they usually aren't sealed for underwater use. Check the engine oil to see if the oil level is higher than normal (could be a sign there's water in it). But doubt you got any water in your oil. You could also try to turn the engine over by hand with a ratchet but if you've already tried to start it then it really doesn't matter.
