I just bought the engine coolant heater kit (RE235938) and trans heater parts (AR94493,AR95434,R34557,R43302). Of course, they came with no instructions. I see folks on this forum say they've found instructions/diagrams on the JD part site for these heater installs, but I can't find them.

Does anyone know where I could find some schematics on these heater installs or simply describe what they did on a 4320 to get them installed? Engine coolant frost plug location would be a good start.

Might not be the same, but the oil heater on my JD4300 went into the return line under the tractor at the rear near the filter. Had a 4" cord on it.
I say "went" because it was in a spot where it would surely get hit/mashed by something while offroad, plus there was no way that I was going to crawl under a snow covered tractor to try and plug it in each night.

JOEYWH,

I did a quick google and found your Part:

OEM:
John Deere - AR50518, RE235938

Model: John Deere - 4320,

Next went to JD Parts Catalog and did a "Parts Where Used" on AR50518 which led me to your CUT, following these levels

1228 - 4320 Tractor - 16May11
Alphabetical Search
HEATER,ENGINE COOLANT

(I attached the Parts Illustration PDF)

Late summer I installed a Block Heater on my JD790 (Attached PIC), looks like a different style than yours (sitting left in the PIC). If you search on my user name you'll find the thread about installing block heaters. The challenge, getting the engine plug off so you can install the "dad-blasted-thing" took me about an hour then in my case, "let the fun begin" installing the heater located right behind a rigid hydraulic line with a nice 90 degree bend.......:confused2:

Hope this helps.........

Thanks for the reply.

I think I've come to the conclusion the parts house sent me the wrong part. That RE235938 heater is 2" in diameter. All the plug locations are 1 1/4".

I went on JD Part's site myself and did a lookup based on the part number in my operator's manual (RE520167). Looks to me like that part was replaced by RE527545. Based on what I see in that picture, that one would fit as well.

RE527545 Coolant Heater 1 110V, (SUB FOR RE520167)
