My machine is powered by a deutz 1011 4 banger. Since the beginning of owning this used machine I have had a weird quirk that no one seems to have an answer for.

When I stop nose down at more than 20 degrees when hot the engine will not start. The fuel rail clicks but the engine will not catch. If it does it runs very rough for at least half a minute. If I stop nose up then no problem trying tonrestart hot. If I let it sit and cool down it starts right up as well.

My engine has been modified (?) to run at 45 degree angles.

This spring I am now showing a tendency to start hard when hot, not slope related anymore.

My initial gut reaction was either oil temp or oil pressure sender or wiring issues, but deutz parts seem crazy expensive so I have not outright swapped stuff yet. My oil pressure and temp guagez bounce around when starting, and I have seen abnormal high readings at cold starts that stop when I increase throttle.

Would love any ideas of better diagnosing ( what you read here is about as far as I can go before pulling parts as I have no experience in diagnosing issues)

Thanks to all

Carl
