New holland t5070 1000 rpm pto

I just bought a woods 3180 and it runs off a 1000 pto. But my new holland has the 540 pto in it. The tractor came with a 1000 pto but it doesnt have the 3 postion lever that i have seen in other 5000 series tractors. Do i need that lever before i put the 1000 pto in?

I have a NH TD95D and to get 1000 rpm at the pto, you put a special pto stub shaft on that automatically changes the pto to 1000 rpm. There are no special levers on our tractor. You remove a circlip and take out the 6 splinned 540 rpm shaft and place the 21 splined 1000 rpm shaft in the transmission and an internal linkage changes the pto output speed.

If you have the capability for 1000 rpm pto, the owners manual will tell you.
