I was wondering what this round thing is (red arrow in pic 1) I think its the oil filter. I have never changed it and was doing a little looking and found this Oil Filter ELS Premium (696854) | Repair Part | Repair Parts & Maintenance Products | Shop | Briggs & Stratton but it doesn't look like the one that's on there, if it is one at all. Also you can look at the pic with the model number (pic 2).

Thanks in advance
Liam

That thing almost looks like some sort of blank that they put on when they made the motor and the real filter never got installed. Look at your parts manual and get the replacement filter for it, remove that metal whatever and see if the filter wont screw on.

You may want to call the service tech in to look at it first. How long have you had it? If still under warranty, I would surely call them in to look at it as running it without a filter might have caused undue wear on the engine.
