I have a Kubota B7610 hydrostatic, used mainly for blowing snow with 3 pt blower. This winter I noted some intermitted noise, high pitch like bearing going bad, figured it was a PTO shaft U joint. Heard mainly when not under load.
I greased and checked PTO shaft u-joints, nothing changed, U joints seem OK. Was not loud so I carried on.
This summer I built a PTO drive air compressor. During testing, the bearing noise progressed quickly. The PTO shaft U-joints seem fine. The noise progressed to loud rattle like something might come apart, worse at idle. Stethoscope seemed to indicate PTO output shaft bearing area. Its quiet when the PTO dirveshaft is disconnected.
I removed the PTO shaft cover. Bearing and idler gear assembly seem fine.
Any ideas on this before I take it to the dealer? Tractor has only 250 hrs, but is off warranty.
