6640 ford hour meter not working

My hour meter is not working at all. I am told it get signal from alt but purchased tractor used so don't know any history on it. The alt looks like it might be an aftermarket unit Magnet Marelli 54022397A. Every thing else works including the pto and tach. Thanks for any help in advance!

If the PTO and tach work but the hour meter doesn't, the hour meter is junk. Will require replacement of the instrument panel and depending on your tractor's build date and panel type, may require more than just the IP.
