Hi, I have a 72 3cyl diesal ford 4000, I just installed a new generator and when the tractor is ticking over the battery light is on. It will go off when you rev her up to 800 rpm. What cud b wrong. I checked when she is running it is charging fine. Thanks.

Hi, thanks for Info. This did not happen with my old generator? It went out just after starting. Is it true that the dynamo has to b polarised for the first time? also my tractor idles about 600 rpm shud this b adjusted.? Thanks.

if it's charging at 750 to 800.. then it IS polarized... no need to re-polarize.

as has been said here and in the other threads you started. gennies don't charge at low idle.. yours is normal.

your previous genny was not the correct genny for this application...
