does the small pto stub actually wobble or is it bent? or is it an over running coupler pinned tot he end that is worn out and needs replacing?

in any event.. you migth want a service manual for your tractor if you are going to care for it and feed it.

that said. to remov ethe pto shaft, either drain the 5g of diffy/trans/hyd oil out..or park it slightly nose down.

pullt he 4 bolts and snatcht he pto shaft out. it should come out with mild to moderate coaxing. if it does not come out with medium force, the internal splined end may be twisted befor ethe pump requireing you to cut the shaft fore/aft of the pump, then drop the pump and drive the slug out.

assuming it comes out fine, get a small flat blade screwdriver and remove the snap rings out of the grooved on the bearing carrier, there will be one holdingthe bearing intot he carier as you look at the 'back' side of the pto... pop it out... then tap the pto stub end down onthe floor onto a block of wood. the bearing carrier and seal assy will fall off.

you can driv ethe old seal out and put a new one itn.

inspect beairng and wear ring on pto shaft and repalce as needed.

assembly is rpetty much reverse of disassembly.

grease new seal and bearing. set pto shaft lone end down on that block of wood on floor.. set beairng carrier and seal assy onto shaft and then tap the assy down ont he wood down and it will seat... then repalce that snap ring.

remember to clean upt he gasket surface onthe bearing carrier flange and back of the tracogtr and use a new gasket.. no selaer needed.

also.. before you repalce the seal.. clean the threaded area in the carrier wher ethe pto safety cap screws in.

if you find the oem 1 1/8 or repalcement 1 3/9 shaft itself damaged.. ie.. splines a re worn or twisted... just get a new assembly.. they cost about 120$ shipped.

save the old parts... even if the shaft is bad.. the bearing carrier is a good spare part.. sometimes split rings break out the ring lands and won't stay put and you need a new bearing carrier.... could keep or sell..
