Anybody do a transmission/hydraulic fluid change on their 3000 series tractors, specifically a 3520. JD dealer is asking $75 for a transmission sump filter. Also anybody use other less expensive hydraulic fluid besides the brand name JD stuff and have you had adverse affects.

Deere's list on this filter is almost $100, sounds like you are getting a little bit of a deal here. Unfortunately hyd/transmission filters are the most expensive filters for any of these applications (regardless of tractor color). Am assuming you are beyond the warranty point or would not be considering a brand change of oil, if still under warranty tread carefully would be unfortunate to not have a drastic failure pd for just to save a few bucks on oil.

I quit running JD oil after I read about using other make equivalents....(the hours drive one way to the dealer helped as well) Tractor now has 4500hrs on it. I have a local source for filters as well but I don't recall the price.

I even use JD Hy-Gard in my Kubota and MFs.
