1973 Ford 2000 3cyl gas
I have a 1973 Ford 2000 3 cyl gas tractor that leaks where the fuel line connects to the shut off valve. The fuel line and associated parts are 'not serviced' anymore. Does anyone know where I can get the nut and flange that connect into the valve, or even a complete line? Also, what size is the fuel line? Is it 5/16 inch?

I copied this from the Ford/New Holland site, for the fuel line nut size. (Nut, Inverted Flared Tube, 5/16"-20, Start Year: 01/01/1965)

5/16" brake line fittings are 5/16"-20 tpi. inverted flare. Maybe Soundguy will pick up on this thread, and confirm if brake line can be used. I know some of the older tractors used automotive type inverted flare lines for fuel lines. If it does, I will have to remember this if the one on my '65 2000 goes bad.

IIRC, we replaced the one on the 8n with a brake line. I believe the 2000 would be the same.

How about taking the old line in to napa and matching it up. You will have to bend it yourself, which isnt hard, just be careful not to kink it. If you dont have a bender, bend it in small increments and a larger radius. If the Napa is far away, and you've never bent steel brakeline before, you might want to grab two "just incase"

Thanks, guys. I wasn't sure of the size. I'll check with NAPA here.

ford 3400 fuel line nut.jpg

Attached are pictures of my fuel line nut (ford 3400) I'm also trying to replace the line from the fuel filter to the carburetor and can't find the proper nut.

I went to NAPA and the gent came out with a brake line nut but required a wider tube than the original had. Not sure if that's ok to do. It also did not have the o-ring built in as the original nut had, so I'm not sure how much to trust the seal. I'd love to find a source for something like the original one.

The only option i can think of is to find a tiny o-ring to replace the old one. Anyone know if there is a gasket in there too? It looks like there may be one but it may be gunk, working on cleaning it up to find out at the moment.

Great info here guys, thanks!

Wow, those sites are fantastic resources. I've been combing the net for these parts for a couple months now and never ran across them... maybe my searches were too specific.

Thanks so much DJ54!!

No problem, that's what we're all here for. I find it easiest to use the OEM part number to do my searches, and have had the best luck using Google. You can go to NHAG Home | NHAG for you Ford parts search, or use Messicks. The advantage of using Messicks, is it gives the price. And that price should be good at any NHAG dealer in the U.S.

Hope they can fix you up with the parts you need..!!

[I realize this is old thread, but it googles well and more folks are working on carbs now a days, so I am just adding to this already excellent thread.]

I have the same issue with the old nut leaking after changing my carb. Surprisingly the link to buy a new one works 5 years later. I am just attaching photos in case someone is not able to source the OEM nut and needs to improvise a solution.

The nut consists of 3 parts and seems based on standard 5/16" tube like fuel or break line, no flare.

This is the expanded views of the nuts pictured above by andyryk, mine are pretty rough and this nut no longer seems to seal or I am not installing it correctly.

I have purchased some actual small grommets, quite different than the original below, but if my reconditioning of the original fails, I will be trying the regular grommets without the original center spring steel part. Wish me luck, any advice welcome and a huge thank you to @DJ54 and the other contributors to this thread.
