I have a 3 point post hole digger that I just tried using today and the auger will not turn, the drive shaft going to the box is turning but the slightest pressure on the auger will stop it although the drive shaft continues to run, worked last year just fine, do not know the name of the unit, most likely the gearbox, what goes wrong with them?

If you checked for a sheared bolt, then it could be a gearbox issue. Perhaps there's a drive pin fastening one of the bevel gears that has come loose- the friction of the shaft/gear fit is enough to engage the auger, but when there's a bit of pressure on the auger, the shaft slips? Good luck.

Is the unit shear bolt or slip clutch style?
