JD X300 tractor slows down when PTO is engaged
I recently ran aground while mowing the yard. I set the deck a bit lower than usual and unfortunately ran over a surface root and buried one of the blades into the root. The tractor died immediately. I was able to get the tractor dislodged, and it started up and ran but the deck was slightly bent as the blade was barely hitting the deck when the PTO was engaged. I replaced the spindle housing unit and got the deck back in line. When I put the deck back on and test mowed, the tractor slowed down considerable when the PTO was engaged. When I disengaged the PTO, the tractor ran at the normal speed. Not sure what the issue is. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: JD X300 tractor slows down when PTO is engaged
Something must be binding. Is the belt lined up properly? Is the belt routed properly? The routing of the belt is very complicated on the machine so it might be easy to get it wrong. Do both of the blades spin freely by hand when the belt is disconnected?
