Hello everybody! Does anyone know a place on the internet to get a wiring diagram for a 2007 JD 5103? I have a 10amp fuse that blows every time I turn the ignition switch to start. According to the fuse panel cover it is the "Rev. Kit" fuse. I don't know what that is. According to the owners manual that space is for a spare 20amp fuse. Any help/info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I do not have a wiring diagram, but here is what maybe blowing the fuse. Can not hurt to try.

I believe the problem is the thermistor sensor. On the thermostat housing there is a sensor that is connected to a two wire harness that goes to the injection pump; this is the "cold start advance" portion of the system so it starts easier when cold by advancing the timing.

The sensor on the thermostat housing controls the advance on the injection pump. When it fails it shorts out and blows the fuse. Try unplugging it, replace fuse and see if it starts and runs. The part # is RE503242, if you are quick changing it, you don't have to drain the coolant, just make sure it's not hot at the time. You will want a pan under the tractor to catch the coolant, so as not too have to clean it up.

You may need to re-prime the fuel system, if it still does not start

To comply with the exhaust emissions regulation, the timing of injection pump should be around 6 to 9 degrees before TDC. These timing values do not allow proper start-up operations when engine is cold. To ease engine start-up, a cold advance system gives to the injection pump a temporary over-timing.

When coolant temperature is below 50ーC (122ーF), the solenoid valve is activated and opens the cold advance circuit.

If this is the problem, please let me know and what you last did with the tractor as I am trying to determine what is causing this on 2.9L engine.

Does this also kill the starter circuit? The reason I ask is because it doesn't blow the fuse until the instant I turn the key to the start position. Then the fuse blows and the engine won't turn over.

From looking at the manual and since you said it was a 10amp fuse it sounds like it is the alternator fuse. So I would say NO. I would still give my suggestion a try, since I saw no fuse for the fuel solenoid. You may want to look at selectmanuals.com for a tech. manual or ebay.

Yes. That is exactly what it will do. I own a 2005 5103 and had the same problem, same fuse blowing. I unplugged the sensor and replaced the fuse. No problems since. The plug is just above the injection pump, drivers side of the tractor, close to the water neck at the front of the block.

Thanks everyone for the information. I have been under the weather but hope to be back on my feet soon and will let you know what I find.

So I finally got out to the tractor today. Turns out the fuse that was blowing (according to the fuse box cover) was in the 10 amp spare fuse spot not the Rev-Kit fuse. (My son had been helping and told me the wrong fuse.) Anyway, I unplugged the temp. sensor as suggested, replaced the fuse and wha-la, the tractor started and seemed to run fine. Next week I will purchase a new sensor and install it.

Above is a picture of the fuse box cover. I can only assume the wrong sticker is in place or I have a different year model tractor than what I thought. The fuse that kept blowing was the top one in the middle.
Thank you all for your help! Roy

Depending on your location, if it does not get real cold or you do not use your tractor in temps below 40, you can leave it unplugged. Be ready to spill some antifreeze if you decide to change it.

Glad to hear that you got it running and that was the issue.

Thanks for getting back to us on what you found.
