1965 Massey Ferguson 135
I have a 1965 MF135. The amp gage always stays peg to the right. It moves a little when tractor is running. Is this the gage or something else in the charging system?

Are you saying it's pegged with the tractor not running and moves a little with the tractor running?

With the ignition off it should read zero unless you turn on some lights etc in which case it will indicate negative amps. It should also indicate negatve amps when starting and then positive amps when running to recharge from the starting and ignition draws and then show slightly positive amps( ~4 AMPS)
for ignition draw after the battery is recharged. Disconnect the battery positive terminal and if the needle stays pegged. the gauge is bad. If you drops to zero when you disconnect the battery, then you most likely have a short somehere. if this is the case your battry would probably go dead very quickly after a shut down.
