How / Who / What can bend this 3/8 inch plate steel bracket back to shape?

Thanks All! I found a machine / welding shop in town I'm going to try as I have some other welding I need done. If I did have access to them I would have tried all the suggestions listed however not sure Chuck does house calls where I live.

Be sure to let us know what the machine shop did to straightened it and if they used heat or just cold bent it back. I always prefer to heat carbon steel up to straighten it as it relieves the internal stresses in it from the bending. Heating carbon steel cherry red to orange is not going to change the strength properties of it as long as you let it air cool down to about 750F then you can water cool it with out any problems. Ever watch a blacksmith at his forge heating iron?

Cult/grind the piece off. Use a press to straighten and weld back on.

Might even want to weld another piece on each side and use a longer pin.

dont you have a wood splitter at home? . just a simple jig in in your splitter, you can rebend things back anytime.

If you can I would have it shipped to a Foundry example The Rodney Hunt Corparation as they are iron workers in the means of they build huge gate valves for dams and butterfly valves that you can drive cars threw any way they are located in Orange Massachusetts and have industrial hydronic presses that they would be able to bend that like it was rubber I worked there almost every thing they build they use electric cranes with 4 point hooks to move so they are use to working with iron a lot thicker then that and have the technology to bend or straighten that for you with precision if interested I can forward you a number if you don't have a such company your way..

Don't own a bottle jack but if I see one at a yard sale I'll pick one up for future use. Yes I do have a wood splitter but sadly it's in need of repairs too. A log jumped over the hold back plate and bent the operating lever which caused a hydraulic leak. I must be hard on machinery. I will report back.

a bottle jack can be had at harbor freight cheap or your local autostore or walmart.
