JD990 sluggish in higher gears

JD 990
JD990 with 250 hours is sluggish when I run in A2 or A3. It acts like the brake is locked on. Seems to not happen down in B or C.

Maybe the brakes are locked on. Check if to see if the shaft rotate freely. Even if they do, the internals could be frozen against the drums. After running it for several yards, feel of the brake drums to see if they are hot. You may need to disassemble them and clean up the corrosion IF they are not wet brakes. If they are wet brakes then it could be just the mechanical linkage is not free to move properly.

you could try jacking the back weels up and see if they turn free by hand.
