John Deere Battery
My LX280 has the original battery since 2005 so I think it's time to look for a replacement. Does any one know if I can use a car battery like a 51R @ Auto Zone,Sears,Walmart etc...... The deere battery doesn't look like anything special but I don't want to waste $100 on the wrong one. The 51R is 12 volts with 500 cca like the Deere but I have heard the tractor batteries need to have thicker plates like a deep cycle battery. Thanks

Re: John Deere Battery
All it really does is start the engine and run a few minor electronics. Im sure the appropriate car battery would be just fine.

Agreed. Car battery will do fine. Get one with the same or greater amp rating and you'll never know the difference. That's what I replace all my equipment batteries with.
