Ford garden 16hp 3cyl diesel. aftermarket filters available?
Hi,
Tractors is about 25 years old. I use 134 hydraulic or transmission fluid which operates forward, reverse and all lift mechanisms. I have two filters for this system, one called a line filter and the other a suction filter. Each, from Ford, costs around $33. I wonder if there are cheaper (in cost) filters available or if you can use a car engine filter if the threads fit? One gets replace every 100 hours, the other 200 hours. thanks . cfb

Most auto parts stores can cross over filter part numbers. Have you tried that?

Here's a website that can cross many OEM's and filter manufacturers to a Donaldson number. From there you can cross it on many other websites to different filter makers.

Just going by your general description, I input Ford/off highway equipment/lawn & garden tractors/16 HP diesel and came up with a NAPA 7145. I did that here: NAPA Filters : Filter Look-Up

thank you friends for replying. I had not thought about asking at an autoparts store. And Todd, thanks for the added help of a web site and even a look up possibility. I guess I was just generally concerned that and auto type filter may not be suitable for a tractor, but I suppose a filter is a filter is a filter, as long as the application is similar.
