1984 John Deere 750 Lost Power Steering
Has anyone had experience troubleshooting the power steering on an Older JD 750 or 650? This PS system uses the same source of hydraulic pressure as the FEL through a priority valve. My FEL works fine, just no Power Steering. Two components might be the source problem, the directional valve which senses direction of the steering wheel or the cylinder itself. Priority valve seems to function as I'm getting pressure to the directional valve. I hadn't gone any further for getting soaked with hydraulic fluid and no one around to assist me as I troubleshoot. Seems this was a bad design and only used a couple of years as parts from the JD dealers are no longer available. I was hoping someone out there might know of the common problem that made JD change their design and lead me to the bad section w/o tearing everything down.
