Egon
PTO runs fine
but tractor does not move when you depress pedal

Egon was talking about the shaft going to the range selector. There is a o-ring groove in the shaft and 4x00 are known to break off. If you do a search there will be hours of fun reading.

I would shut off the tractor and try to engage the range selector.

Thank you. That is what I was visualizing but not stating properly.

Looking @ parts diagram I see this shaft but it has a spring pin (which I'm thinking is what has failed) that attaches it to drive bushing
PTO shaft runs okay, so I am assuming this is where the break in power line is.
Do you know if this is an easy fix?
Is there an cover which I can remove to change out spring pin?
or do I need to disassembly entire transmission?

Why do you assume it is a spring pin? If the shift shaft has
broken off entirely, it would have separated. If not, then it
could be one of 2 pins, yes.

There is one holding the shaft to the external bellcrank, and one inside
the trans, holding the shaft to the shifter fork.

Fully replacing the shaft does not require taking apart the trans, but
you would have to remove the 3-pt cylinder housing. I have done 2 of
these repairs.

Found problem
Broken shifting fork
John Deere most have know it was problem
They can out with a new robust kit to replace both shifting forks, housing and shaft
I fell a lot better about this repair now
Much stronger design!
