    If your tank is that bad, I would be looking for an after market replacement.I have tried the epoxy treatment in the past with negative results.

    If it is a on top of the motor tank, I'd go with steel. If it is somewhere else, nothing wrong with plastic. My 1981 JD2240 came with a plastic 20 gallon tank right in front of the radiator. Most of those old tanks were not galvanized...

    If I had the choice of steel or plastic, I would go with plastic.The plastic is a very sturdy type that last forever and doesnot rust.The only problem is a fireI have an 1175 Case that had this type of tank that caught on fire and after burning for quite some time it finally heated the three point arm it burned a hole where the arm touched the tank.They are not cheap, that little beauty was over five hundred to replace.
