Hi guys

I don't know if anyone will be able to help me with this but I thought I would post this just in case. I have a Kubota compact tractor with a KM190 backhoe. The control valve assembly on the backhoe has a leak on one of the valves. I removed it and took it to the nearest dealer who said that it would need a replacement "slice". They have tried to get one from McConnel, who made the backhoe for Kubota, but they can't supply the part.

I will try to attach the diagram from the manual. The leaking valve is identified by number 18.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Andyfr.

Hi Andy,

I'm pretty sure it was you who I spoke to a couple of years ago to get a manual for my KM190. However, it seems your machine has started showing the same symptoms as mine had: over use and poor design. I don't know whether or not you were able to get your valves fixed but I took my spool valve block to a local hydraulic specialist and he was able to fix the problem of oil leaking from the top of the spindle by removing the affected spindle and fabricating slightly oversized brass collets/seals which then stopped the oil from seeping out of the top. That was about 6 months ago and the digger has had some hard use since then and no more leaks (from the spool valve anyway, the rams are a different story!).

The problem is caused by the non linear movement of the spindle up and down every time the control handle is moved, there is always a bit of side to side motion as well and over the years this wears the block down until one day oil starts appearing at the top when you raise the spindle.

I hope that helps a bit or that you already have your machine fixed! I couldn't ask for a better digger as th ereach is fantastic compared to modern small machines and the power is fantastic for the size of it as well, given I am running it off a 15HP tractor!

All the very best.

Iain
