Tractor
McCormick Deering OS4
Hi everyone, some of you may have read my previous post a while ago about a 1947 McCormick Deering Os4 with a clutch problem. I did get it unceased by putting the tractor in 2nd, and kept hitting the brakes. Some of the time, when i put the lever foward, it will grab. Which is good! But, I need it to grab sooner. Because when i pull it back to release it, it releases at about half way back which is too soon. So my question is, where is the adjustment?

Hopefully this will help. Look for section 193, bottom paragraph, lower center. And bottom right picture shows the adjusting ring, and ring lock.

This page should print out full size, so you can take it to the shop.

Thanks, I have taken both the top cover and bottom cover off before, but I never knew what that plate was for adjustment. When I took off that nut that holds the clip on, the bolt threads stripped, and the bolt itself doesn't stay still, I can move it by hand. I think i have to take the plate competely off, and get a new bolt it there. Thanks again, that is exactly what I have.
