G'day I would call it a front final drive oil seal ( hub to stub) usually leak when the front wheel bearing need adjustment/replacement. Do not use it until you check the oil level in the front hub should be a plug on the outside of the housing and are usually full with the filler plug horizontal.

So finally got around to taking things apart . I got the final drive assembly off but to get to the two internal seals I'm a bit confused how to continue. Do I need a special tool to take things apart further?

Usually the seal is not in need of replacement but has dirt/ mud jammed in it causing a crappy seal. The last time that happened to us we couldn't source the seal fast enough and just cleaned and reassembled and hasn't leaked since. This was after some work in some really crappy conditions.
