hi, I have a 1972 ford 2000 3 cyl. diesel with independent pto. I have removed release bearing hub support and front cover of trans. removed snap ring on input shaft but the shaft won't come out. The way my manual reads it should just pull out. What is my problem or any suggestions please thanks Kenny

Hi Kenny.

I'm guessing of course, but it might just be siezed. Metals have a way of doing that after they've been together for years.. What i do is soak with a good penetrating oil for a couple days (if you have the time to wait) or find a puller/spreader that will securely hold and apply enough pressure to the shaft.
Can you post a picture? Lots of talented folks on TBN, with a photo you might get a better response.:scratchchin:

Which transmission is in your tractor? 4 speed? 6 speed?

There are two snap rings that need to come out numbers 4 and 8 on the drawing below to gget the PTO and the transmission input shafts out. It may take some force to pull the bearings out of their bore but they should come.
